Sleepy Eye Trap Shooting Team

Sleepy Eye Trap Shooting Team is sponsored by Sleepy Eye Sportsmen’s Club.

  • Our goal is to provide student athletes with a safe, fun trap shooting experience along with a competitive atmosphere.
  • SAFETY is our #1 priority!!
  • Any student grades 7-12 and 12 years of age or older are eligible to participate.
  • Students athletes must meet all school eligibility requirements, and follow all school conduct, academic, and chemical abuse policies.
  • Student athletes must have their Hunter Safety Certification completed before March 31, 2025. If they are not currently certified, they need to get the online classes done ASAP so we can get a safety field day planned and completed before March 31. The online course is available at www.huntercourse.com
  • Student athletes will be able to participate in other spring sports as well as trap shooting.
  • Federal Gun Free School Laws apply! Absolutely NO guns to be brought to school grounds!
    NO EXECPTIONS!
  • Student athletes will be expected to respect all coaches, shooting range staff, and volunteers!
  • Student athletes will promote a positive image by wearing appropriate attire during all events.
    • No cutoff shirts, halter tops, tank tops, etc.
    • No short or low riding shorts or pants that reveal undergarments or buttocks.
    • No flip-flops or opened toed shoes/sandals.
    • No clothing with pictures, designs, messages, or writings with direct or indirect
      references to alcohol, tobacco, sex, drugs, gambling, or profanities.
  • League 2 Strike Penalty Rule will be used for all policy and procedure infractions.
    • 1st violation – the student athlete is sent home immediately and a coach will contact
      parents of the student athlete to address the concerns before the student athlete can
      return to the team.
    • 2nd violation – the student athlete will be removed from the team with no refund and
      will not be able to return for the remainder of the season.

  • We will be using the Remind App for all communication and announcements between coaches and student athletes/parents. Code will be provided.

  • Student/Parent registration is open now through March 24 at noon.
  • Parents will need to create an account for the student athlete at ClayTargetGo! Click on AMS and it will step you through creating an account. Our Team ID is sle223.
  • Parents will then have to pay $40 registration fee to the league online.
  • Participation fee of $80 will need to be paid to the Sleepy Eye Sportsmen’s Club.
  • Total cost for student athlete will be $120.
  • All shells and clay targets will be provided by Sleepy Eye Sportsmen’s Club.
  • All regular season shooting events will take place at our local trap shooting range located just south of town on Sunday afternoons and evenings. We do not want to interfere with other spring sporting events if possible.
  • Season will begin on March 30 with a safety meeting and our first shoot.
    • March 30 – Practice Week 1 (optional because of Easter)
    • April 6 – Practice Week 2
    • April 13 – Reserve Week
    • April 20 – Competition Week 1
    • April 27 – Competition Week 2
    • May 4- Competition Week 3
    • May 11 – Competition Week 4
    • May 18 – Competition Week 5
    • June 9-17 – Championship Shoot held in Alexandria, MN
