Purpose of the Program:
Our mission in offering the extended day for students is to meet the individual students needs based upon benchmark testing. We will meet individual needs and learning styles through differential learning techniques and smaller group settings to encourage students to strive to be successful.
Description of Instructional Strategies:
All reading and math lessons will be focused on Minnesota State Standards. Specifically in reading we will be using PALS, Read Naturally and Lexia to increase fluency and comprehension. In grades 4, 5, and 6 classes will focus on specific standards with an emphasis on inferential comprehension.
In math we will use Study Island, Moby Max, IXL, and Math Facts in a Flash. Along with reinforcing the standards addressed in the classroom.
Measures of Success:
Students will be grouped according to areas of need based upon our benchmark tests in both math and reading. Continued monitoring will be done using Fountas and Pinnel, FAST, STAR, AR, and a variety of individually created standard based assessments.
